Round 8 Altrincham

ALTRINCHAM GOLF COURSE SUNDAY 12/02/2012

Round 8 played at fog bound Altrincham Municipal, preferred lies in operation but only on the fairways, the day was marred by the fog that came down part way through the day, quite a few golfers deemed it dangerous but manfully carried on. The fog certainly didn't deter Pedro Hartle who carded a magnificent 8 under par 63, a paltry 5 shots clear of 2nd placed Joe Dillon (68)
Unfortunately Terry Daly & Bryan Connett were disqualified after both played the wrong ball (twice) on the 18th, both finished the hole & their round without rectifying their mistakes (Rule 15-3b)

Playing the Wrong Ball

b. Stroke Play
If a competitor makes a stroke or strokes at a wrong ball, he incurs a penalty of two strokes.

The competitor must correct his mistake by playing the correct ball or by proceeding under the Rules. If he fails to correct his mistake before making a stroke on the next teeing ground or, in the case of the last hole of the round, fails to declare his intention to correct his mistake before leaving the putting green, he is disqualified.

Strokes made by a competitor with a wrong ball do not count in his score. If the wrong ball belongs to another competitor, its owner must place a ball on the spot from which the wrong ball was first played.

Exception: There is no penalty if a competitor makes a stroke at a wrong ball that is moving in water in a water hazard. Any strokes made at a wrong ball moving in water in a water hazard do not count in the competitor’s score.

In Div 1 Mike Lomax failed to take full advantage of Trevor Orrell's absence (14 on a hole doesn't help) so still trails Trev by 1 point with Brian James 6pts behind, down t'other end John Light is definately down, but with only 2 games to go only 3 pts seperate Paul Molyneux in 5th & Bill Peach iin 9th

Div 2 Pedro Hartle's victory moves him 1 pt clear of Terry Doyle at the top, it looks as though only Howard Wadsworth is in with a chance of catching em
